A poem

Intrepid poet,
the world is long past broken.
Your words are lost on deaf ears.
The language of the soul is dead,
hang up your mantle.

You are too late. You waited too long.
and the world is long past broken.
You can not save the ones
who do not want to be saved.
Their hearts are not open.

Intrepid poet,
the world is long past broken.
It will take more than words to save it
and with more time than you have.
Hang up your mantle.

I am intrepid and the world is long past broken
but I have seen the depth of someone's soul in their words
and they have seen the depth in mine. A fierceness.
I still believe we can save the ones we try to save
with words, they have never heard before.

The language of the soul is not dead,
we just have to stop whispering.
